I don't know what Willard used, but my go-to interior for years has been Epiphanes. I prefer matte finish to emulate oil rubbed. As Epiphanes is oil base, prior oil should be somewhat accommodated. A

3M 5200 is the wrong product for this application, not just because it's more of an adhesive than a sealant. 5200 is relatively thin and will drip and run. 5200 takes forever to cure. 5200's strength
